New Beginnings

How do we continually dare to hope and go again in all our endeavours?

There's just something so exciting about new things, be that a new car, a new relationship or even a new book. We love starting something new because the possibilities are endless. But, living in a generation where everything is so disposable, these 'new things' become more of a temporary hype than a long-lasting change.

We frequently fall into one of two traps that make us seldom reach our goals or full potential.

The first one is we'll start something new, and two weeks in, something will go wrong, it'll get too hard, or we'll just mess up; and instead of picking up the pieces and going again, we find it easier to just give up and find something else that might just work out.

The second one is the 'I'll start on Monday' trap. We're all too familiar with this one, waiting until we are ready. The truth is we're never going to be completely ready and the whole 'I'll start on Monday' speech is just a sad excuse we tell ourselves to make us feel better about procrastinating. Don't get me wrong, I think we all sometimes need to be cautious and move slowly into new endeavours, but most of the time, we just need to take a leap of faith and go for it!

The Bible says in Lamentations 3:21-23;

"Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this: The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning." (NLT)

We can dare to hope, knowing that He is faithful. Every day, when we wake up and take a deep breath, we know that His mercies have begun afresh! Each day starts with the potential of being incredible; it's up to you to dare to hope and give it a go.

Every day is a fresh start; you don't need to wait for the new week, month, or even a new year to start something. And when you do start something, and it gets hard, and you mess up, the same principle applies. Every day is a day that hasn't been lived yet, every second is one that has yet to be experienced, and every breath is one that you haven't taken yet.

So live life knowing that if God has brought you to it, He'll bring you through it.

"being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion..." (NIV)

- Philippians 1:6

Don't be afraid of messing up and feeling like you wasted a fresh start because nothing is ever wasted. You never lose; you either win or you learn.

"And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them."(NLT)

- Romans 8:28

So what are you waiting for? TODAY is your NEW Beginning!
